Conference
The East Coast Asian American
Students Union conference is the premier Asian American collegiate
conference in the United States. Founded in the 70's, this annual conference
brings together student leaders from over 100 major universities to facilitate
political activism and encourage educational dialogue. Today ECAASU is
still at the forefront of the Asian Pacific-American movement—and
Yale is proud to continue this tradition.
Hosted from February 8th
to February 10th, ECAASU 2007 will return to New Haven to commemorate
its founding at Yale thirty years ago. Over 1,000 students will gather
at Yale looking to improve intercollegiate communication and reach out
to the greater Asian American community. ECAASU 2007 gives us the perfect
opportunity to reflect on the growth of the last thirty years and envision
the future of Asian America.
This year, Yale
prepares to welcome ECAASU back with speakers like Nusrat Durrani,
the General Manager of MTV World; performers like Jin,
one of the only Chinese American established rappers; and workshops and
panels discussing subjects ranging from affirmative action to Asian American
studies to inter-racial dating.
