ASIAN STUDENT COUNCIL (ASC)

With a growing Asian community, Rutgers University formed the Asian Student Council in 1999 in order to unite the Asian community and create an environment for stronger and more successful relationships within and outside of the community. Our mission is to organize a unified body that represents each Asian organization and its members. We strive to enrich the Rutgers community, providing a forum for students, faculty, and staff alike.

By far, one of the best examples of such proactive ambitions was the creation of the Asian American Cultural Center. Frustrated that their office was housed in a 400 square foot room that previously served as two storage closets, students raised their voices and collaborated with faculty and staff to urge the university to fund the construction of a new office in order to bring some light to the Asian community at Rutgers.

Now, three years later, the AACC is the home of all Asian organizations. The faculty that works there are not just Deans, but rather confidants, mentors, and friends. The facility houses programs in its multipurpose room, as well as meetings every single day of the week in its conference rooms. It isn't just a center, but rather a home that fosters the development and ultimate success of every single Asian organization on campus.
