To help us make the ECAASU 2009 conference the best it could possibly be, we are in need of individuals who are excited to be a part of the ECAASU team! Some of the benefits that come along with volunteering include the chance to network and meet new people, learn the processes of how a large-scale conference is run, and of course, participation in one of the biggest intercollegiate Asian American conferences!
There are several committees in need of volunteers, so please read over each committee's brief description below. You can then fill out the Volunteer Application! You may also want to join the Facebook Group for future updates, information, and meetings!
Entertainment Committee: Tasks include acting as ushers and runners during the shows. Need people who have worked with shows and have show experience.
PR Committee: Need people who have experience with press releases and will be able to help out with making them.
Design Committee: Need people who are familiar with and are good with photoshop.
Banquet Committee: Looking for people to help coordinate banquet rooms, volunteers need to know about the facilities and food options, need to be able to work well under pressure, as well as with the Hyatt staff, are polite, and patient.
Career Fair Committee: Need people to help set up the career fair (on Friday and Saturday morning) and help the representatives from the various companies. Individuals need to be well-mannered, outgoing, willing to talk and work with corporate representatives.
Workshop Committee: Need volunteers to help organize and make sure things are working smoothly. Also need volunteers who act as liaisons to the workshop facilitators; host them and make sure things are running smoothly for them. Furthermore, volunteers need to help with directing people overall. This committee also needs some people interested in working closely with the Committee chairs to help them write workshop bios, evaluation forms, and other tasks that may arise. Volunteers need to be organized, friendly, and have good communication skills.
Keynotes Committee: Volunteers needed to show the keynote speakers around and act as a liaison to them.
Registration Committee: Volunteers needed to help check attendees in, act as runners, help set up registration packets, organize t-shirts, and other tasks needed for registration. **Will be needed for a lot of preparation work before the conference.**
Housing committee: Need people who know their way around College Ave to help take people to their housing assignments.
Mixer Committee: Volunteers needed to be mixer facilitators. Need people who are extremely outgoing and can lead mixers, as well as have some experience with dealing with large groups.
Logistics Committee: Need volunteers stationed at the Hyatt who can communicate well and are very articulate to help run an Information Booth for anyone who has questions about the conference.
General Committee: Need volunteers to act as guides. They will help the attendees find the workshops and are stationed around the College Avenue campus, as well as around the Hyatt and State Theater in order to provide direction and support for any attendee questions.
