The Artists in Residence Program

The purpose of the East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) Artists in Residence (AiR) Program is to uplift and foster community between emerging A/A artists. AiR focuses on creating a close knit community of artists through bi-weekly work and progress sharing meetings, guest mentors, and craft / discussion workshops. AiR also focuses on uplifting selected artists by sharing their portfolios through ECAASU’s network, housing portfolios on ECAASU’s existing platforms, and providing a final exposition at ECAASU’s annual national conference

Frequently Asked Questions

No! AiR is meant for emerging A/A artists, so the program actually has more to offer for rising talent than we do for established or professional artists.

AiR is open to any and all ages!

Currently, no. We are looking into potential funding opportunities for resident stipends in the future, but AiR does not guarantee any monetary compensation.

No! Outside of the costs you already incur from continuing your work, AiR should not impose any additional costs.

This program is meant to uplift you and the work you’re doing, so you will have complete creative liberty when it comes to what you create during your time at AiR! There may be opportunities that arise for residents to create content in collaboration with ECAASU and/or its affiliates, but if so these projects would be on a voluntary basis. The most important part is to contribute meaningfully to the AIR community and continue to uplift one another.
