SEEKING:
Six actresses: 18 – 20’s (to play teen girls 14 – 18). We are assembling a multi-talented ensemble of young women of all ethnicities to represent the Global World of this piece. All need to have great singing voices and dance/move well (a “real” quality vs. musical theatre quality). Seeking at least one actress who can rap. All must have amazing personalities. It is imperative that we believe they are real people, authentic and not actors. The more global the piece, the better. All must be able to play teenagers credibly. They could be poets or stand up comics, rappers and singers, androgynous to feminine. All must have citizenship or be permanent resident (ie: green card).

East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) Internship – Summer Only
Stipend: $2000
Must be a student at an East Coast university or college. The ECAASU internship focuses specifically on youth leadership and activism. Typical duties of this intern include: establishing conference and workshop materials for youth conferences, developing materials for youth leadership program, learning tactics for engaging and mobilizing, maintaining communications for ECAASU and other youth coalitions.
General Internship – Year-round
The internship program is tailored per organizational needs and intern skills. There is no stipend, but APIAVote is currently promoting the CAPAL Scholarship Program. APIAVote interns may have the opportunity to work on any of the following areas: Communications/Technology (new media and traditional), Field (working with APIAVote partners to mobilize their field campaigns), Policy (research and advocate for policy recommendations), Training (Norman Y. Mineta Leadership Training Institute), or Youth (engaging and organizing our youth coalitions.)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FROM CHINESE & KOREAN STUDENT COMMUNITY!
Parent/Teacher Conferences at Stuyvesant High School in New York City are taking place this Thursday (March 29) from 5:30-8pm, and Friday (March 30) from 1:00- 3:00pm. Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean- speaking volunteers are needed to interpret for Chinese & Korean parents as they speak to their students’ teachers.
Volunteers are welcome to work for any part of those time periods, as all assistance will be most appreciated. Stuyvesant High School is located at 345 Chambers Street, next to the West Side Highway in Battery Park City, and easily accessible via subway (1, 2, 3, A,C ) trains and the M20 and M22 buses.
In order to volunteer, interested students should contact Harvey Blumm, Parent Coordinator, at (347)563-5099 or via email at hblumm@schools.nyc.gov for further information. We ask that you bring your personality to the table and show us why you belong at the crossroads of the Asian American movement.

Descriptions:
Executive Associate Director – Strengthen National Board cohesion; assist in building Conference Board relations; travel to host school of annual conference prior to conference. In the event the National Board Executive Director is unable to fulfill his/her duties, the Executive Associate Director will be promoted to serve as National Board Executive Director until the next election.
Associate Director of Advocacy – Lead the Advocacy coordinator(s) on advancing APIA issues around the country and lead the Asian American Studies initiatives of ECAASU; collaborate with students, faculty members, and professors to maintain an Asian American Studies network; pursue civic engagement projects such as voter registration; keep up with and report on any APIA issues as they develop; formulate and advise upon official ECAASU policy positions;
Advocacy Coordinator – Research and advance specific APIA issues around the country; advise as an expert on those issues for the National Board; pursue projects to further advance the Asian American Studies initiative of ECAASU and civic engagement. NOTE: If you feel passionate about a particular issue, specify it in the space below.
Associate Director of Communication – Create a strategy to promote and facilitate the growth of outreach programs, publications/articles, and events; liaise between Conference and National Boards; review publications written by or about ECAASU National; send out online newsletter; create and compile a publication/journal each semester; collect social media data.
Events Coordinator – Facilitate the organization of regional mixers and other events; in charge of documentation and archiving these events through pictures, articles, videos, and/or any other innovative methods; collect event data and feedback.
Outreach Program Coordinator – Lead efforts to network and collaborate with multiple community groups on policy initiatives, volunteer events, and networking opportunities; guide ECAASU programs such as Campus Ambassadors, Interns, and Alumni, compile database of community groups.
Social Media Coordinator – Update the ECAASU website & blog, Facebook, twitter and other social media platforms; collect announcements for online newsletter; archive past ECAASU websites; develop creative and ambitious strategies to promote ECAASU and its activities over the internet.
Associate Director of Development – Create and implement a fundraising plan; manage the annual budget based on funds given by the Directorate; work with the Conference Board on a sustainable conference budget; grant writing skills not required but a plus.
Development Coordinator – Seek out and secure new sponsors (e.g. sources of funding) whose missions and goals align with those of ECAASU’s; grant writing skills not required but a plus.

UniPro will be hosting it’s Annual Summit on June 2nd in NYC! Registration is now open! This is a Multinational Forum for Pilipino Young Adults, Students and Youth! This year’s theme is ”Pilipino Renaissance,” and will feature upcoming figures from the community whose work promotes the culture, welfare, and progress of Pilipinos. Coincidentally, the Annual Philippine Independence Day Parade in NYC will be the day before, so it will be a fantastic weekend to be at the Big Apple!
Established in 2009, Unipro is a not-for-profit organization comprised of young professionals, students and youth. The Summit is a great chance to meet Filipino leaders from around the world to discuss relevant issues in the Filipino community!

UniPro to Host Second Annual Summit in June 2012
New York , NY – On Saturday, June 2nd, 2012, UniPro (Pilipino American Unity for Progress) will host their second annual Summit for Filipino Young Professionals, Students, and Youth. The purpose of the Summit is to provide a safe space for honest dialogue for young Filipinos from throughout the world. In attendance last year were delegates from across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Qatar, and the Philippines, who participated in discussions focusing on the theme “Building Bridges: Locally, Regionally, Globally.” The Summit for 2012 will take place in New York City, the same weekend as many other Filipino American community events, including the annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration Parade.
Bryan Lozano, UniPro’s Executive Director, states, “I cannot stress enough about the importance of UniPro’s Summit. It’s a safe space, a community dialogue, an incubator for ideas and means for Pilipino communities around the world to build bridges with each other. We are extremely excited about continuing such a valuable event and about the possibilities that can be grown through this year’s collaborations.”

Calling All Performers! Submissions for Talent Show in NYC!
At this year’s 6th Annual NYCAASC (New York City Asian American Student Conference), there will be a talent show contest featuring local student performers. Dance crews, bands, solo artists, magicians, or any kinds of performers are all welcomed to submit their audition tapes, which will be due on March 17th. Five or six final performers will then be selected to perform and compete with each other on the day of the conference in the talent show and they will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The first placed performer(s) will receive a great prize!
