1) APIAVote: ECAASU Summer Internship
Deadline: April 26, 2012

2) JACL 2012 Collegiate Leadership Conference
Date: Thursday, June 7 – Sunday, June 10, 2012 (Arrival by 4pm, Thursday, June 7, 2012)
Deadline: Friday, May 4, 2012

Applications are available through the JACL website or by request here. The 2012 JACL Collegiate Washington, D.C. Leadership Conference is an intensive three-day leadership development program that introduces Asian Pacific American student leaders to the national policy-making arena. Participants will be briefed on legislative issues affecting the Asian Pacific American community and examine the role Asian Pacific American civil rights organizations play in affecting public policy in the nation’s capital. They will also have the chance to meet and work with student leaders representing colleges and universities from throughout the country and learn ways to effectively address issues and create positive social change on their own campuses and beyond.

 Eligibility Requirements:
Applicant must be an Asian Pacific American undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior class student attending an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.

3) Voter Engagement Training in NYC for the Asian American Community
Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 12:00PM – 6:00PM

The MinKwon Center for Community Action and APIA Vote invite you to a Voter Engagement Training for the Asian American community in New York City. This event is part of a series of nation-wide leadership trainings for non-profit staff, volunteers and students who will be reaching out to the Asian American community for the 2012 elections. As part of the Norman Y. Mineta Leadership Institute, this training covers how to run an effective voter-mobilization program and incorporate civic participation into an organization and or coalition’s existing structure. (Lunch and dinner will be provided)

4) SEARAC: South East Asia Research Action Center: Leadership & Advocacy Training

SEARAC is now accepting applications for their 14th annual Leadership & Advocacy Training. This training is open to any applicants who are Southeast Asian American or who work with Southeast Asian American communities across the country. 5) AALDEF: Fall 2012 Voting Rights Internships
The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) protects and promotes the civil rights of Asian Americans through litigation, advocacy, and community education.  Fall internships are available for college, graduate, and law students in AALDEF’s Voting Rights Program.

6) Asian Americans for Equality: Seeking Community Organizing Intern
Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is seeking a Community Organizing Intern to begin immediately and stay on until the end of June 2012. The intern will play a critical role in strengthening tenants’ rights and housing organizing programs in the neighborhoods of Sunnyside, Woodside, and Elmhurst, Queens. The intern must commit to 6-10 hours per week (not on Monday or Friday). S/he must be comfortable interacting closely with residents of various communities in Sunnyside, Woodside, and Elmhurst. S/he must have capacity in one or more Asian languages, preferably Chinese or Korean.

The intern should expect to be in the field most of the time. Responsibilities will include: doorknocking and surveying building residents, translating tenants’ rights material into language(s) in which intern has capacity, helping to set up and run housing workshops, assisting in research on neighborhood issues, government programs, city codes, etc. S/he may also be needed at occasional evening or weekend events (about 2 per month). If you are interested, please email a resume and cover letter, or direct any questions you might have, to: esther_choi@aafe.org.

7) Book a Performer/Speaker for Your School Event: Paul PK Kim
Paul PK Kim is the founder and Exec. Director of a non profit organization and annual Asian talent show calledKollaboration, which now in its tenth year, draws over 20,000 people annually in fourteen cities. He is also the co-founder of LiNK, Liberty in North Korea, a non profit organization dedicated to bring awareness to the needs of North Korean refugees.

PK is the host of All Star Fridays at The World Famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood.  He was the original host of Asian Nights at The Laugh Factory and has hosted the show for eight years. He has brought over 10,000 people to the club, many of them seeing stand up comedy live for the first time.   He has performed stand up comedy at over 70 universities across the United States.

PK stands for Paul Kim and Preacher’s Kid. (Preacher’s Kids = Problem Kids) He was born and raised in the rough streets of south central Burbank, California. Burbank is Johnny Carson’s hood, his earliest inspiration in comedy.

2) CAPAL Federal Internships and Scholarships for Public Service
Location: Washington, DC, California, Oregon, Washington, and additional locations nationwide

The Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan educational and professional organization dedicated to building leadership and public policy knowledge within the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Its mission is to promote Asian Pacific American interests and success in public service careers, to provide information and education on policy issues affecting the APA community, and to serve the APA community at large.

Each summer, CAPAL places over 10 summer interns in the federal government. These internship positions are open to ALL MAJORS, and are suited for individuals looking to gain real-world federal government experience. Each CAPAL intern will be awarded a stipend to support the successful completion of his/her internship. For more application information, click here.
CAPAL will also be awarding 3 scholarships to outstanding Asian Pacific American (APA) college undergraduate and graduate students who will be interning in the Washington DC area for the summer (The SunTrust Scholarship and the Asha Jaini Scholarship) .  The scholarships are intended to enable APA individuals with leadership potential to work full-time and learn about ways to influence public policy in their local communities.  Recipients of the CAPAL scholarships are responsible for securing their own internships. 3. NYCAASC: Talent Show
Location: New York City
Deadline: March 17th, 2012
At this year’s 6th Annual NYCAASC (New York City Asian American Student Conference), there will be a talent show contest featuring local student performers. Dance crews, bands, solo artists, magicians, or any kinds of performers are all welcomed to submit their audition tapes. Five or six final performers will then be selected to perform and compete with each other on the day of the conference in the talent show and they will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The first placed performer(s) will receive a great prize. Please submit your audition tapes to yiru136@gmail.com or yiru.li@nycaasc.com.

Rise Up! is a great way to build your leadership skills, meet fellow students looking to positively impact their communities, and learn how to be an effective advocate and communicator on and off campus. Rise Up! is an opportunity for 15 South Asian American college students from around the country to come together for a four day convening on May 5-8, 2012 to learn how federal policy is made and how you can impact it, to explore important issues such as civil rights, immigration, and political participation, to develop skills around documentation of community stories and advocacy, to gain insight from experienced community-based leaders who will offer their advice and guidance, to go back to your campus with an action plan to document community narrative, and to create policy change.

MID-FEBRUARY DIGEST HIGHLIGHTS


1) ECAASU Trailblazer Award: Do you know a student who is paving the way for activism and advocacy in the Asian Pacific American community?

The ECAASU National Board is soliciting nominations for students who inspire, educate and empower those interested in Asian American & Pacific Islander American issues. As a new initiative to honor those who whose work fits with our mission and goals, ECAASU has created the ECAASU Trailblazer Award to recognize those students who have significantly impacted his or her community. Every two weeks leading up to the ECAASU 2012 Student Conference at Duke University, a Trailblazer Award nominee will be chosen by the ECAASU National Board as a finalist. At the ECAASU 2012 Conference, all the finalists will be recognized at a reception and the winner for ECAASU’s Trailblazer Award will be chosen. The winner of the Trailblazer Award will be recognized at the reception and win a $500 scholarship to further his or her education or career aspirations.

2) Bid for ECAASU 2013 Conference

If you haven’t considered it already, you still have time. Bids are still being accepted for the ECAASU 2013 Conference. On behalf of the ECAASU Board of Directors, we are calling for a group of students to step up and lead next year’s conference.  Please contact June Kao at june.kao@ecaasu.org to bid for ECAASU 2013.

3) ECAASU Campus Ambassador

The ambassador position has been created to help ECAASU build up a network across the East Coast amongst student leaders and give students the opportunity for to step up and be active community members in the East Coast region. In a way, a campus ambassador is very similar to an individual in publicity in that we hope the ambassador will help us spread the news about ECAASU events (Fall Campus Tour and Spring Conference, etc.) and announcements to your campus community. If you would like to join the program and/or work on new ideas for the program, check this out.

This past week June asked the Campus Ambassadors “What’s up?,” and she wants to hear from you too: 
What’s an issue you care about? And have you found a way to address it on your campus? If not what’s stopping you? (and it doesn’t have to be entirely ASIAN AMERICAN-related!). Email June at june.kao@ecaasu.org.

4) NYU Chinese Student Society: Dynamicss

Deadline: February 10, 2012 for entering the show. All submissions are due February 17.  NYU Chinese Student Society is looking for submissions in dance, video, songwriting, and fashion design for their new spring show entitled DYNAMICSS. DYNAMICSS is a benefit show that aims to showcase Asian culture with student competitions and performances that center upon the theme of inspiration and progression. With a larger emphasis on student involvement, they hope to create a student production catered not only for their members but also for the community as well! To be a part of the production and share your artistic vision, send an email tonyu.dynamicss@gmail.com.

5) Re-envisioning American Art History: Asian American Art, Research, and Teaching

Deadline: March 1, 2012Asian/Pacific/American Institute (A/P/A Institute) at NYU will be hosting the upcoming 2012 NEH Summer Institute entitled “Re-envisioning American Art History: Asian American Art, Research, and Teaching.” Participants will understand the pivotal developments and critical issues in Asian American art history and visual cultural studies and will be given access to specialized archives that will enhance their research and teaching in the humanities.If you are a college teacher, museum educator, independent scholar, or graduate student, click here to learn more about the application process.

6) National CLAS Standards Conference Call

7) Asian American Writers Workshop: Call for Nonfiction Fellows

Open City: Mapping Urban Asian America, a new online magazine on Asian American news and culture in New York, is hiring creative nonfiction fellows to produce content on the vibrant immigrant communities of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. The new magazine will offer smart takes on Asian American (particularly immigrant) culture as it’s lived in New York right now. Imagine stories on: the proliferation of x-rated video stories in Sunset Park, migratory patterns of Little Pakistani residents, karaoke bar culture, gentrification in Chinatown, or how Korean taco trucks define ethnic borders and space. Hey all,

Happy New Years to all! Hope everyone enjoyed their breaks and are preparing for another exciting semester. As the new semester approaches for most, get excited about ECAASU’s annual conference a little over a month away. Make sure to arrange travel and lodging plans for that great weekend. If you have not registered yet, the deadline for regular registration is this Friday, Jan. 13, so make sure to register soon because there are less than 200 spots left.

JANUARY DIGEST HIGHLIGHTS


1) Bid for ECAASU 2013 Conference

If you haven’t considered it already, you still have time. Bids are still being accepted for the ECAASU 2013 Conference. On behalf of the ECAASU Board of Directors, we are calling for a group of students to step up and lead next year’s conference.  Please contact June Kao (june.kao@ecaasu.org) to bid for ECAASU 2013.

2) ECAASU Campus Ambassador

The ambassador position is to help ECAASU build up a network across the East Coast amongst student leaders. Moreover, the program is an opportunity for people to step up and be active community members on the East Coast. In a way, it is very similar to a publicity position in which we hope ambassadors will help us spread the news about ECAASU events (Fall Campus Tour, Spring Conference, etc.) to your campus community. If you would like to join the program and/or work on new ideas for the program, check thisout.

2) ECAASU 2012 Conference at Duke University: Regular Registration

Make sure to register before the Regular Registration deadline (1/13/12) at ECAASU 2012 Conference. Less than 200 spots left.

3) OCA Accepting Applications for 2012 Internship Program

Deadline: March 12, 2012
Celebrating its 23rd year, the OCA Internship Program seeks to cultivate future leadership by providing students from all over the country an opportunity to be involved in the political process through one of the largest national APA advocacy organization. The program has successfully led past interns to become more actively involved in their college campuses and to join the growing movement of APA leadership at the cross section of government, nonprofits, and business.
Interns are expected to commit to working full-time for ten weeks between the dates of May 28 – August 17, 2012. (Participation in the National Convention is mandatory and applicants are strongly encouraged to make sure they are able to attend.) Applications will be reviewed by the Internship Committee and a telephone interview will be scheduled for qualified applicants. 4) Faces of Asian America at the University of Pennsylvania

Date: March 17, 2012
Where: University of Pennsylvania

The Asian American Studies Program at the University of Pennsylvania would like to invite you to Faces of Asian America: The First Undergraduate Research Forum on Asian American Studies on March 17, 2012. This Forum explores issues surrounding the Asian American experience with the goal of promoting a more profound understanding of Asian America, and will include research from all disciplines. The event will consist of a full day schedule. Dr. Elaine Kim is the Keynote Speaker for the event.

Additionally, all current students are invited to enter their work such as papers from current or past academic courses or independent study.  Submitted research will be reviewed by a panel, and twelve outstanding papers will be selected to participate at the Forum. One exceptional work will be selected for an award of $300. Please submit by February 3, 2012.

5) APIAVote Michigan Seeks Community Coordinator

APIAVote-Michigan seeks a community coordinator to lead key aspects of the organization’s strategic plan, primarily through community/voter engagement, leadership development, and fundaraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to succesffuly execute civic participation projects, be self-motivated, and have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of the Asian American community.
The community coordinator will start part-time and potentially transition to full-time, dependent on available funding. She or he will report to the APIAVote-Michigan Board of Directors. This position is an opportunity to strengthen the Asian American community’s voice in Michigan through civic participation and social change efforts. See attachment for more details.

6) Japanese American Citizens League Accepting Applications for Internship

 The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is now accepting applications for the John Moy & Southwest Airlines Congressional Internship. During the program’s inaugural cycle in Summer 2011, interns were placed in the offices of Representatives Xavier Becerra (CA-31) and Mike Honda (CA-15). 
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis for two eight-week, paid internships beginning in Winter 2012. Duties and responsibilities will be outlined by the congressional member’s office in which the intern is placed. Placement offices have yet to be determined. Congressional interns will have a unique opportunity to experience the policymaking process and gain exposure to Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues.

This internship program is made possible by a generous donation from John Moy, longtime supporter and member of JACL, and roundtrip tickets provided by JACL’s official airline, Southwest AirlinesClick here to apply.

7) National Queer Asian Pacific Island Alliance (NQAPIA) Internship

The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is a federation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations.  NQAPIA seeks to build the organizational capacity of local LGBT AAPI groups, to develop leadership, to promote visibility, to educate the community, to enhance grassroots organizing, to expand collaborations, and to challenge homophobia and racism. NQAPIA is seeking talented young people for internships.

The intern will learn strategies in using public policy, grassroots organizing, and the media to advance social justice.  Interns are supervised by NQAPIA professional staff.  Interns work primarily on research and writing, policy advocacy, community outreach and organizing. These internships are not paid positions, but academic credit can be arranged.  During the winter and spring, interns work anywhere between 15-40 hours per week.  Internships are usually about ten weeks.

8) Korean American League for Civic Action Internship
Deadline: March 5, 2012

The KALCA Summer College Internship Program, now entering its 12th year, is a unique opportunity for college students and recent graduates of Asian descent with demonstrated leadership potential to gain practical, hands-on exposure to government, politics and non-profit advocacy. The program is focused on community leadership and public service and there is a summer stipend of $2,000.

Hey all,

Stressful times calls for some relaxing. Yes, it is finals week but make sure to give yourself a study break once in a while. Go out for a walk, get together with friends for a snack, and read the ECAASU digest. Just make sure to get yourself out of the library. Here is the final stretch. Good luck to all of you out there on your finals and projects.

8) Angry Asian Man Looking for Intern

Angry Asian Man is looking for an Angry Asian Intern for ten weeks, starting in January 2012, to assist with various tasks that include but are not limited to writing, editing and researching for the blog. The intern should preferably be in the Southern California area, but qualified people elsewhere in the United States are welcome to apply. 9) Washington Leadership Program: Summer Leadership Program
Deadline: January 20, 2012
The Washington Leadership Program (WLP) is accepting applications from high-potential South Asian college students for the 2012 summer leadership program scheduled to take place from June 9, 2012 to August 3, 2012. The WLP cultivates the South Asian American community’s next generation of leaders by placing them in Congressional offices or Government Agencies for eight-week summer internships with a structured leadership-training curriculum.  The students gain firsthand views of the policy-making and legislative process and gain access to high-profile South-Asian leaders in the nation’s capitol. Interns will receive a total stipend of $1,500 and will be required to complete 2-3 short writing assignments during the internship.

10) International Leadership Foundation Announces 2012 Summer Fellowships

Deadline: February 1, 2012
For the thirteenth year, the International Leadership Foundation (ILF) will award over 30 fellowships to Asian Pacific American college students who exhibit the qualities for and potential as future business, community, or professional leaders. The ILF Civic Fellows will spend eight weeks in the summer interning for a federal government agency in Washington, DC and gaining firsthand knowledge of the workings of the American government. Any Asian Pacific American undergraduate student with at least a 3.0 GPA is eligible to apply. Applicants must be United States citizens. Interested students can visit ILF’s website here to apply and obtain more information.

Hope the much needed Thanksgiving break was spent with lots of love from family and friends. Whether it was turkey or chicken, I am sure you all are stuffed from Thanksgiving food and have gained five extra pounds. 2) ECAASU Trailblazer Award: Do you know a student who is paving the way for activism and advocacy in the Asian Pacific American community?
The ECAASU National Board is soliciting nominations of students who  inspire, educate and empower those interested in Asian American & Pacific Islander American issues. As a new initiative to honor those who whose work fits with our mission and goals, ECAASU has created the ECAASU Trailblazer Award to recognize those students who have significantly impacted his or her community. Every two weeks leading up to the ECAASU 2012 Student Conference at Duke University, a Trailblazer Award nominee will be chosen by the ECAASU National Board as a finalist. At the ECAASU 2012 Conference, all the finalists will be recognized at a reception and the winner for ECAASU’s Trailblazer Award will be chosen. The winner of the Trailblazer Award will be recognized at the reception and win a scholarship of an amount to be determined to further his or her education or career aspirations.

4) Engage 2012 National Summit

Date: December 8, 6-8PM

Location: Kimmel Center at NYC
Engage 2012 is hosted by Women of Color Policy Network, a national summit of policy experts, practitioners, thought leaders and key stakeholders working on issues related to immigration, racial justice and equity, economic security, LGBTQ rights and reproductive and environmental justice.  Engage 2012 will bring together a cross-section of leading national civil and human rights leaders to discuss what it will take to get the country back on track, the role of government and the Administration in rebuilding the national economy, and strategies to mobilize communities and reenergize voters.
The event will be moderated by Sheryl Huggins Solomon, Managing Editor of The Root and include Anika Rahman, President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women, Maria Teresa Kumar, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Voto Latino, Susan Herman, President of the ACLU, Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and ProfessorMarc Lamont Hill, host of Our World with Black Enterprise Television, among others. 5) Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) Looking for Office Intern
The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a national non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Asian Pacific American participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office.

Position Description:  APAICS offers unpaid internships throughout the year for undergraduate and graduate students interested in working on issues affecting the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Interns must be located in the Washington DC area and may be able to receive school credit for their work.

6) Define American Campaign Manager

Define American is changing the way we think and talk about  immigration. Their mission is to change the public conversation by reaching new audiences with fresh content about, and by, immigrants and their champions. More info here.
Define America is a unique social media campaign launched in June 2011 that is already creating dramatic waves across the country. They draw on the stories of immigrants and their non-immigrant champions – telling the untold truths about how our nation’s immigration is impacting real communities. The effort was launched by a small team of dynamic leaders, inspired by our co-founder Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer prize winning former journalist, who “came out” as an undocumented immigrant in a courageous piece in the New York Times Magazine. Unlike many non-profits that want to live forever, they are hoping to be so successful that they work themselves out of existence.

Angry Asian Man is looking to bring on an Angry Asian Intern for ten weeks, starting in January 2012, to assist with various tasks that include but are not limited to writing, editing and research for the blog. He’s looking for a mature, progressive, pop-culture savvy, responsible, detail-oriented and hard-working individual with the following qualifications:
  • Great writing and editing skills
  • Experience publishing with blogging platforms (Blogger, WordPress, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of HTML
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Passion for Asian American issues/arts/current events
  • Good sense of humor

A tiny little stipend might be available. Strongly prefer an intern in the Southern California area, but open to working with a qualified person located elsewhere in the United States. Interested? 1) ECAASU Campus Ambassador
The ambassador position is to help ECAASU build up a network across the East Coast amongst student leaders. At the same time, the program is an opportunity for people to step up and be an active community member in the East Coast region. In a way, it is very similar to a publicity position, in which we hope the ambassador will help us spread news about ECAASU events (Fall Campus Tour, Spring Conference, etc.) to your campus. If you would like to join the program and/or work on new ideas for the program, check this out.

2) ECAASU Trailblazer Award: Do you know a student who is paving the way for activism and advocacy in the Asian Pacific American community?
The ECAASU National Board is soliciting nominations of students who inspire, educate and empower those interested in Asian American & Pacific Islander American issues. As a new initiative to honor those who whose work fits with our mission and goals, ECAASU has created the ECAASU Trailblazer Award to recognize those students who have significantly impacted his or her community. Every two weeks leading up to the ECAASU 2012 Student Conference at Duke University, a Trailblazer Award nominee will be chosen by the ECAASU National Board as a finalist. All finalists will be recognized at the ECAASU 2012 Conference reception where the winner of the Trailblazer Award will be chosen and recognized. The winner will win a scholarship of an amount to be determined to further his or her education or career aspirations.

4) Engage 2012 National Summit
Date: December 8, 6:00-8:00 PM
Location: Kimmel Center at NYC

Engage 2012, hosted by Women of Color Policy Network, is a national summit of policy experts, practitioners, thought leaders, and key stakeholders working on issues related to immigration; racial equity; economic security; LGBTQ rights; and racial, reproductive, and environmental justice.  We will bring together a cross-section of leading national civil and human rights leaders to discuss what it will take to get the country back on track, the role of government and the Administration in rebuilding the national economy, and strategies to mobilize communities and reenergize voters.

The  event will be moderated by Sheryl Huggins Solomon, Managing Editor of The Root, and include Anika Rahman, President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women, Maria Teresa Kumar, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Voto Latino, Susan Herman, President of the ACLU, Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Professor Marc Lamont Hill, host of Our World with Black Enterprise Television, among others.

5) Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) Looking for Office Intern
The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a national non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Asian Pacific American participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office.

Position Description:  APAICS offers unpaid internships throughout the year for undergraduate and graduate students interested in working on issues affecting the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Interns must be located in the Washington DC area and may be able to receive school credit for their work.
Application Process: Please email a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to Teerrina Gogue, Program and Communications Associate, at tgogue@apaics.org with the Subject Line: “APAICS Office Internship.” In the cover letter, please indicate the reason you are interested in working with APAICS, the type of work you would like to do, the time frame and approximate number of hours you can commit per week, the level of computer skills you possess, and any additional languages you speak. Your writing sample should be a one-page, double-spaced essay on one of the following topics: any Asian Pacific American in political office (current or former), a key issue facing the APA community, or a reflection on your own community involvement.

3) ECAASU Campus Mixer Coming to a City Near You!
Our first mixer of the year in NYC was a great success. Come join ECAASU and fellow student activists at our next stop at Georgia Tech in Atlanta! There is one destination left: Philly. The application to attend the 2012 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), hosted by President Clinton is now available on-line! President Clinton will host the meeting at the George Washington University from Friday, March 30th to Sunday, April 1st, 2012.

CGI U is President Clinton’s initiative designed to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.  Each CGI U student member makes a Commitment to Action: a specific plan of action that addresses a pressing challenge on their campus, in their community, or in a different part of the world. CGI U is proof that young people have the power to make a significant impact by confronting some of the world’s most urgent challenges.

5)  Asian American Theatre Alliance at NYU is hosting it’s Sunday Cafe: Talent Showcase
Date: December 4th, 2011 at 4pm-6pm

AATA is all about promoting Asians and Asian Americans in the entertainment industry in America. They feel that Asians are widely type casted or have very little presence in the entertainment scene. They’re hosting this talent showcase in order to demonstrate just how much amazing talent Asians and Asian Americans have.

AATA Sunday Cafe: Talent Showcase, which will take place this year December 4, 2011 from 4-6, is a creative talent showcase for presenting and giving exposure to the wide range of creative and artistic abilities of students at NYU in an effort to support the dynamic and multi-faceted presence of the Asian American community in the performing arts and entertainment. ALL students are welcome to participate!
