An Invitation to you for ECAASU 2011 Conference

Dear ECAASU 2011 prospective attendees, WELCOME to the 2011 East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) Conference at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which will be held from February 18-20, 2011. ECAASU is the nation's largest Asian Pacific American (APA) student conference that attracts more than 1,200+ students every year. Please note this event welcomes all races, ethnicities, colors, and backgrounds other than APAs.

At the conference attendees meet and speak about current issues affecting the APA community. This year, our theme is B. R. E. A. K. It stands for Bridging the older and younger generation of activists by Revitalizing the Asian Pacific American movement; Equality for all, Actions across color-lines; and sharing Knowledge to promote a collective community.

OUR VISION is to connect activists who started the beginning of the APA movement to younger generations of activists because in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the APA community built coalitions with other minority groups in the country--a tradition we must carry on. By building coalitions across color-lines, other minority groups will acknowledge our communities' struggles and that our struggles and their struggles are collective struggles; only then, will we be able to bond, work together, and form a collective community to keep fighting for a better future.

WE ARE EXCITED for ECAASU, and we hope attendees can begin to register as soon as possible. Our rates are cheaper this year with only a $5 increase between each month. The registration fee covers three meals, one midnight snack, workshops, performers, speakers, facilities rental/maintenance, and the rates go as follows: $50 early bird registration ends on December 5, $55 up to December 31, $60 up to January 31, $65 up to February 1-4, and TBA for February 5 and later. If attendees register now, they can postmark their payments up to a week later with a check sent to the mailing address at the end of the registration page. We really do encourage attendees to register as soon as they can.
