Don't know about you guys but all this scurrying off to school, enthusiastically catching up with old friends, remembering cafeteria food and dorm rooms is making me both excited and anxious for the new upcoming year! So much has happened over the summer but stepping back onto campus makes me feel as though nothing has changed! (Well, maybe the fact that there are swarming freshmen is a little different..)
Outside of the hustle and bustle of a new school year, it looks like there's another change that might happen. The Shark Fin Ban that was making quite a scene in California over the summer and divided the APIA community continues its saga. According to the article, the ban passed on a 5-2 vote in the Senate Committee and now moves on to the full Senate. Though there is still opposition to the ban, it looks like the general move towards conservation and away from what some would argue as cultural necessities.
Don't know about you guys but I think this ban becoming a reality is quite exciting! What do you guys think? Agree? Oppose? Comment and let us know!
