ECAASU 2021 Bid Process
We live in a sociopolitical climate characterized by anti-immigrant rhetoric, active shooter drills in public schools, seemingly insurmountable student loan debt and predatory lending, attacks to Title IX protections for survivors of assault, cutbacks to ethnic studies programs, rising international tensions fueled by the defense and oil industries, and widespread voter suppression. Indigenous land and sovereignty rights are routinely ignored, international students are accused of espionage, government surveillance of Black and brown communities has only increased despite the rising threat of white nationalist violence, drug prices are as high as ever, and military recruitment propaganda still has unfettered access to our youth.
Over 40 years ago, a group of Asian American students came together on the heels of the Third World Liberation Front to organize in solidarity with Black and brown communities across the world, support affirmative action efforts, speak out against US militarism, and learn how to protect the right to vote for communities of color. Today, it is as important as ever for Asian American and Pacific Islander students from all walks of life to come together and mobilize to fight for our communities.
The East Coast Asian American Student Union (ECAASU) is pleased to open our call for bids to host the 2021 ECAASU Conference. Each year since 1977, it has been our tradition to hold a conference that exemplifies our mission to inspire, educate, and empower those interested in Asian American & Pacific Islander American (AAPI) issues.
All hoping to submit a bid to host the conference must fill out this Interest Form by Monday, October 14th, 2019.
