Internship Applications Are Now Open
ECAASU is assembling a volunteer team of passionate, open-minded volunteers to participate in our Spring Intern Program! The ECAASU Internship Program will give you experience with working on a 501(c)3 nonprofit and contributing to our mission to inspire, educate, and empower those interested in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues. You will be working specifically with one of the following teams - Advocacy, Communications, Development, Executive, Outreach, or Board of Directors. We encourage anyone who is interested in contributing to Asian American and/or Pacific Islander student communities to apply. Please note that preference will be given to students, although current enrollment is not required. Internships last from January to June and are a great way to learn more about non-profits and advocacy, so apply today!
Position descriptions and responsibilities are described below:
Board of Directors
ECAASU’s Board of Directors oversees the long-term vision for our organization as a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
The Board of Directors is looking for an organized and motivated individual who will assist with administrative tasks and functions of the Board of Directors. This individual will work closely with the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Board of Directors. The role includes assisting with the ledger, meeting minutes, updates, and other administrative tasks. .
The Board of Directors is looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to assist the Board with programming material for events. This includes, but is not limited to, programming for the Outreach team and the annual conference. They will also assist BoD in a special project during the term of their role.
The Executive Team leads and oversees all the day-to-day operations of ECAASU’s National Board.
The Administrative Intern will assist the Executive Team with project management, scheduling, and prioritizing tasks. This position is ideal for someone who wants to learn more about managing many different aspects of a nonprofit organization like ECAASU. The Administrative Assistant should ideally have experience with Google Sheets, but it is not required.
The Advocacy Team works to further ECAASU’s mission by developing training curricula, engaging in research, and responding to current events impacting our communities.
Advocacy and Policy Intern:
The Advocacy and Policy Intern will be responsible for assisting the Advocacy and Policy Analyst with the drafting and editing of ECAASU's statements and other advocacy-related stances. The Advocacy and Policy Intern should ideally have a decent understanding of political issues of identity that affect AAPI communities.
The Data Intern will be responsible for assisting the Advocacy Research Analyst with visualizing data and statistics obtained from our EASE survey and pulling meaningful information out of large pools of data. The Advocacy Data Intern would ideally be familiar with Excel and SPSS (but not required).
Special Projects Intern:
The Special Projects Intern will be responsible for assisting the Advocacy team with the management of various projects (e.g. 2020 Census campaign, civic-engagement related efforts).
The Communications Team manages ECAASU’s brand and produces content for our media channels. They handle ECAASU’s mass communications.
The Multimedia Intern will assist the Communications Team in the creation of original media content for ECAASU’s various online platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with video editing under the direction of the Advocacy Communications Coordinator, and designing graphics for Facebook cover photos, infographics, etc. as needed that follow the ECAASU style guide. Often, the position will require quick turnaround in media and graphics production. Ideal candidates will have proficiency with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro) and/or graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Indesign. Samples of past work is required.
The Writing Intern will assist the Managing Editor and the Social Media Coordinator with overseeing the Editorial and posting regularly on ECAASU’s various social media accounts. Responsibilities include managing the Editorial calendar and the writing team; researching articles and other content to post on ECAASU’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; and occasionally writing for the Editorial. The intern will also help proofread original content and write copy for Facebook events and posts as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with social media management, writing about AAPI and social justice issues, and/or editing. Two sample writing pieces and/or a portfolio featuring written social media posts are required.
The Development team works to bolster ECAASU’s capacity to do the work we do by forming strategic partnerships with other organizations and fundraising.
The Fundraising Intern will assist the Fundraising Coordinator with all fundraising campaigns. This includes research, creating pubbing outlines, helping coordinate with other teams to make them more effective. The ideal candidate will have experience using social media and fundraising.
The Partnerships Intern will assist the Community Partnership Coordinators with building relationships with sponsors and community partners by tracking correspondence, asks, and potential future asks. The majority of these will come from our annual conference. The ideal candidate should have good organizational skills and proficiency in Excel and Google Drive.
Special Events Intern:
The Special Events Intern will assist the Special Events Coordinator with event planning. This includes, but is not limited to, planning for the annual Youth Leadership Week Conference and the Winter Alumnx event. The ideal candidate should have good Excel skills, proper email etiquette, and prior event planning experience.
The Outreach Team connects and builds relationships with students and student organizations across the East Coast through our programs.
The Outreach Team is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our group. The intern will be working closely with the overall team to develop programming material and any additional administrative duties assigned. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Google Suite.

The programming intern will have exposure to all of the programming under the outreach team. The ideal candidate should be familiar with Google Suite and passionate about AAPI history/advocacy.
