Maria Jia Ling Pitt

Maria identifies as a 1.5 generation mixed race Chinese English American woman, as an artist and a community organizer. Maria is passionate about utilizing storytelling, creativity, and active communication to deconstruct binaries and allow people to lead more engaged, honest, and whole lives.

Maria is a graduate of the University of Florida where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Asian American Studies. Prior to joining the Board of Directors, Maria served on the ECAASU National Board as Associate Director, Director of Outreach, and Bid Coordinator.

Maria hopes to encourage students to embrace their full selves while recognizing the value that they bring to different institutions, giving them ownership of their experiences and the ability to fight for more resources and representation. Maria is interested in examining sustainable organizational structures and archiving the past, present, and future of underrepresented communities. Maria hopes to create safer spaces for AAPI folx, QTPOC and our Black, Brown, and Indigenous family.
