Shania Khoo

Shania is a 1.5 genration Malaysian immigrant born in Singapore who moved to unceded Tuscarora land (colonially known as Cary, North Carolina) at the age of five. They are currently a senior at Duke University, where she is pursuing a Program II major in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. At Duke, as President for the Asian Students Association and a member of the Asian American Studies Working Group, Shania is involved in the fight for Asian American Studies and Ethnic Studies through the Asian American Studies Working Group, and they are constantly demanding Duke to hold itself accountable to the countless harms inflicted upon marginalized and working-class communities of color. Shania joined ECAASU in 2016 as a high school junior through the High School Program. Whether Shania is pushing for their university to implement more resources for communities of color; creating zines and art unpacking immigration, queerness, and Asian diasporic identity and experiences; or facilitating political education spaces, they always aim to use their voice and power to dream and build a better world that centers the needs of working-class communities of color.
