Meet Board of Directors 2025-2026

Guides and supports ECAASU's National Board, ensuring organizational longevity and accessibility while fostering a culture of mutual care and growth.

Chair
She is a Vietnamese American based in Raleigh, NC. She was previously the Associate Director of ECAASU’s National Board for two years, and is honored to serve as the Chair of the Board of Directors this term. She is also a volunteer and organizer for local mutual aid initiatives which have given her insight on Southern radical efforts. In her free time, she enjoys creating zines, cooking, and strength training.
Tiffany Mai

She is a Chinese American woman who is a graduate student at Boston University pursuing a Master of Science in Epidemiology. In 2024, she graduated from the University of Vermont with a double Bachelors' in Health & Society and Chinese where she was heavily involved with the community. Eventually, Tiffany would love to obtain a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and educate the next generation of college students. In her free time, Tiffany enjoys reading, knitting, dragging her friends to the climbing gym, and going to the Rhode Island Sonic drive-in.
Jonah Stern

Strategic Learning
He graduated from the University of Vermont in 2023 with a degree in environmental sciences. He coordinated ECAASU’s High School Program in 2024 and coordinated workshops for ECAASU’s 2025 conference in DC. His passions involve environmental education, environmental justice, and creating more equitable spaces in the outdoors. In his free time you can find Jonah watching sunsets (and subsequently making artsy posts about it), hiking, or riding his onewheel around town!
Gordon Shi

Advocacy
He is a Chinese American from Springfield, Virginia, who currently serves as the Advocacy Coordinator on ECAASU’s Board of Directors. He joined ECAASU in 2023 as a co-executive conference director, then spent two years on the National Board as a Community Empowerment Coordinator and Journal Coordinator. Gordon graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in English literature and minors in Chinese and Asian Pacific American Studies, and this fall he kicks off another three years in academia as a 1L at the Emory University School of Law. In his spare time, Gordon enjoys boxing and writing Letterboxd reviews which range in quality from film bro-esque to deeply unserious.

Mira Manalastas

They are a Filipino American based in Alexandria, VA. They have served as an External Conference team member of the ECAASU 2025 conference. Mira is a passionate mental health advocate and printmaker with a masters in art therapy from the George Washington University. They graduated from the University of Virginia in 2023 with a double major in cognitive science and studio art. In their free time, Mira enjoys drawing, fountain pens and stationery, collecting Pokemon cards, printing zines, cooking, and napping with their cats.
Malena Nong

She is the Conference Chair of the Board of Directors and has held this role since the 2025 ECAASU Conference. She previously served on the National Board and was the Logistics Director for the 2023 ECAASU Conference at the University of Virginia (UVA). Malena is currently a senior at UVA, where she is studying biology. In her free time, she enjoys baking, spending time with friends, and exploring new coffee shops.

She is a Chinese American based in Brooklyn, NYC. She is the Partnerships Chair and previously served as the Campus Summit Coordinator. She is passionate about Asian American advocacy and led an activist organization in college. In her free time, she enjoys photography, cooking, and reading.
Suraj Patel

Development
He is a first-generation Indian-American student who attended the University of Virginia for this BA, Columbia University for his MA, and is now pursuing his PhD in Clinical and Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. Suraj had worked in a variety of sectors, from healthcare, data science, to advocacy, and is primarily interested in advocacy for socioeconomically disadvantaged populations such as first-generation and minority families.
Estelle Kim

Advisory
She is a Senior Advisor on the Board of Directors of ECAASU. A first-generation Korean American, Estelle previously served as Board Chair from 2024-2025 and held executive Conference leadership positions from 2022-25—this term marks her 4th year with the organization. Estelle recently earned her Master's in Public Policy (MPP) from Georgetown University and graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia in 2023. In the MPP program, she concentrated on the intersections of social and health policy, conducting research on affordable housing and healthcare utilization among underserved populations. She applies her academic training in evidence-based policy making across various legislative and non-profit contexts, with a consolidated focus on advancing AANHPI communities through public service and advocacy work. In her free time, Estelle enjoys baking and traveling with friends and family.
