RESISTANCE IN JOY, EXPLAINED

“Resistance in Joy” takes its name from the title of an article written by Asian American Students Alliance (AASA) member Jane Park (Yale ’26) for the Yale Daily News in the wake of the Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay shootings. The phrase speaks to our refusal to have moments of joy stripped from us in the face of both internal and external challenges for the Asian American and Pasifika communities, from anti-Asian violence to colorism and generational trauma—our joy, in itself, is an act of resistance.
