2023-2024 National Board
Run by a team of passionate leaders, students, and young professionals who volunteer their time and effort to further the mission of ECAASU.
Anna (she/her/hers) is a biracial Chinese American born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. She is currently a junior at Harvard College studying Government, History, and East Asian Studies. She was the High School Program coordinator from 2021-2023 and is an alumna of the ECAASU High School Program herself. She also previously served on the ECAASU 2020-21 Conference Team.
Minh-Thu Dinh is a Vietnamese American based in North Carolina. She recently graduated with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering at NC State University. While in college, she was heavily involved in the Asian American community.
Vivian is a Chinese-Vietnamese, first-generation student who recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. She served as President of the Emmanuel College Asian Student Association (ASA), and was Associate Director for the 2022-2023 NB term.
Emma (she/her/hers) is a first generation Chinese-American who grew up in Niantic, Connecticut and is now living in Beijing, China. She is currently a senior in high school and is an alumna of the ECAASU High School Program. This is her first year on the National Board and she is beyond excited to become further involved with ECAASU and work alongside the rest of this year’s team.
Gordon Shi is a Chinese American from Springfield, Virginia. He majors in English and double minors in Chinese and Asian Pacific American Studies at the University of Virginia. Gordon joined his school’s Asian Student Union in 2021 and served as an APIDA Heritage Month co-chair before being elected president the following year.
Malena Nong (she/her) is a first-generation Cambodian-American born and raised in Northern Virginia. She previously served on the 2023 UVA Conference Team as the Logistics Director and is part of UVA’s Asian Student Union.
May Huang is a first-generation Chinese American. She grew up in Tennessee and graduated from MIT in 2023 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at MIT, she was honored to serve as an executive board member of the Asian American Initiative, MIT’s only student organization focused on Asian American advocacy.
Jonah is a Vietnamese adoptee and recent graduate from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences. In his time as an undergraduate he served as Treasurer of People of Color Outdoors, Vice President of Asian Student Union, and co-leader of UVMs Interracial Adoptee Group.
Jessicayanti Lim (she/her/hers), an Asian American of Indonesian-Chinese heritage from NJ, graduated with a BA in Mental Health Psychology from Stockton University. During her undergraduate years, she actively contributed to the Asian Student Alliance Club, fostering community and empowerment.
Arham Hashmi (they/them) is a first generation (formerly) international student from Pakistan and have just graduated from Skidmore College in New York with a Psychology major and a minor in Creative Writing. During their time at Skidmore, they have been the president of the International Student Union, the South Asian Cultural Club Hayat and the Muslim Student Association.
Erika K. Pen (she/they) is a Cambodian-Chinese American born and raised in Lowell Massachusetts. They are a senior at Salem State University where they are studying psychology with minors in women’s studies and social work.
Emily is a Chinese-American, born and raised in San Francisco, California. She is currently a Senior at the Berklee College of Music majoring in Music Production & Engineering. She is interested in learning more about AAPI issues and has previously served on the ECAASU 2022 Conference Team.
Tiffany is a first generation Chinese-American from Rhode Island. She is a fourth year double majoring in Chinese and Health & Society at the University of Vermont (UVM).
Kelly is a first generation, Chinese-American student currently in her third year studying graphic design and business at Boston University. She was a participant of ECAASU’s AFA program in 2021-2022 and has been the social media coordinator since 2022. At Boston University, she’s involved in BU’s student government as President of College of Fine Arts and last year as Senate Chief-of-Staff.
Nysa is an international student from Lucknow, India. She’s a junior double majoring in computer science and physics with a minor in cyber security and mathematics at Simmons University in Boston. During her time at Simmons, she has served as the First Year Representative and Secretary for the Asian Students Association (ASA) and she is currently their President.
Renzogio Garcia is a Filipino American from New Jersey. He is currently a sophomore at Georgetown University studying Finance and Operations & Analytics. On campus, he is involved with Georgetown’s Social Impact and Public Service (SIPS) Fund, Asian American Student Association, and Club Filipino.
Michelle is a first-generation, Chinese American born in Hong Kong and raised in Nantong/Hongzhou and Atlanta, GA. She is currently in her senior year of high school.
Shivani Swaminathan (she/her/hers) is an Indian-American who was raised in New Jersey and now lives in Texas. She is currently a high school senior at the Episcopal School of Dallas. Shivani has served as her school’s Asian Student Union Vice President since 2022, and as the head of the Diversity Council since 2023.
Kriya Shah (she/her/hers) is a first-generation Indian-American currently in her senior year at North Penn High School, PA. Being a member of ECAASU’s High School Program and a Civic Youth Fellow for the International Leadership Foundation propelled her passion for Asian-American advocacy, and she’s so glad to be working as an ECAASU fellow to further develop her skills in leadership.
